All good things must come to an end and in the case of our Top 20 Oregon State players countdown, the final choice could only be one player. The quarterback who is ready to help the Beavers fulfill their lofty preseason expectations, the #1 spot goes to Clemson transfer play-maker, DJ Uiagalelei.

Whether he has a weird fascination with the color orange or just saw what could be built at Oregon State, the reasons why DJ Uiagalelei ended up in Corvallis are nowhere near as important as the impact he can make as a quarterback with serious top-level pedigree in college football.

Posting a 21-6 record in his time at Clemson, the California talent is returning to the West Coast to hopefully help the Beavers view for a Pac-12 crown. And while yes, things didn’t end so lovely with the Tigers - he was benched in the 2022 ACC Championship - his stat-line of tallying 6,594 total yards, along with 51 touchdowns on the ground and through the air, likely gives him the early nod as the most purely gifted talent of the Jonathan Smith era.

A threat through the air and on the run, the multi-dimensional attack that Uiagalelei can give the Beavers offense, along with a superb running talent in Damien Martinez and one of the land’s toughest offensive front-five, is just part of the reason why expectations are so ridiculously high in Beaver Nation right now. And with game-day on the horizon, here’s to hoping that 2023 is finally Oregon State’s year to claim what might just be, the final Pac-12 Championship title.
