The return of Beavers football is on the horizon and as our Top 20 Oregon State players countdown nears its end, we’re still rattling off some of the team’s elite talents. Coming in today at the #4 spot, it’s the often imitated yet never duplicated, defensive back Kitan Oladapo.

Leading a secondary that includes the likes of Ryan Cooper Jr., Akili Arnold and Jaden Robinson and Tyrice Ivy Jr. - just to name a few - calling Kitan Oladapo the figurehead of the team’s last line of defense is a fair assessment of what the redshirt senior brings to the table.

The two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week in 2022, Oladapo tallied a staggering 17 tackles when the lights shone brightest against Oregon, securing his spot as an AP All-Pac-12 first team selection at the end of the campaign. He also finished last season with 80 total tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 6 pass breakups.

At 6’ 1” with long arms and good mobility, Oladapo is the type of player who shows his worth in both the run and pass game, meaning his versatility is definitely what leads him to consistently produce and impact games from sideline-to-sideline. We know the team’s offense has been ahead of the defense in recent years, so players like Oladapo, should be part of the leveling effort expected from the other side of the ball in 2023. If this rising tide can carry all the ships with him, the Beavers have a real chance to materialize their conference championship hopes.
