We’re back with #18 on the Building the Dam countdown of the Top 20 players to watch in 2023. Oregon State’s linebacker corps is one of the groups that has the most turnover going into the new season, with both Omar Speights and Kyrei Fisher-Morris both departing the team. That means its time for new names to step and start making plays. We’ll be taking a look at one of the players today.

Outside linebacker is going to be one of the most competitive spots on the roster, with Andrew Chatfield and John McCartan also being big names to watch at the position. Cory Stover is also expected to compete for a starting position, and took a lot of reps with the starting team in spring training.

Stover has been with the Beavers since 2020, and last season started showing flashes of great pass rushing ability. Last season he started in 5 games, and finished the year with 30 total tackles, half a tackle for a loss, and half a sack. Stover’s experience and familiarity with coach Trent Bray’s system means there is a lot of flexibility with how he could be used, and with more snaps in 2023 he should take a big step forward.

Check back tomorrow when we take our first look at the Beavers 2023 secondary.
