We’re only one day away from Beaver football. For the final days of our countdown of the top 21 players on the 2021 Beavers, we’re digging in to the team’s greatest strength, its linebacker group. Today, its Inside Linebacker Avery Roberts.

#2 - Avery Roberts

  • Position: Inside Linebacker
  • Class: Redshirt Junior
  • Height/Weight: 6’1”, 234 lbs.
  • Hometown: Wilmington, DE / Concord High School

Roberts broke through in a big way in 2020, leading the Pac-12 with 69 total tackles in addition to three tackles for a loss and half a sack. For his efforts he was recognized as one of the best linebackers in the conference, earning first team All Pac-12 Honors.

Despite losing Hamilcar Rashed to the NFL, Oregon State’s linebackers are still expected to be a team strength. Roberts is arguably the best player in that group, having put on some legendary performances last season. His 21 tackle game against Utah was the highpoint, but he had four straight games with double digit tackles, and with a full season ahead of him, his stats could be even more ridiculous in 2021.
