Fall camp is underway, and we’re just over a month away from the start of Beaver football. As we rev up our coverage, we’re going to be counting down 21 of the players who will make the most impact on the 2021 squad. Today, we’re starting off with Tight End Luke Musgrave.
#21 - Luke Musgrave
- Position: Tight End
- Class: Sophomore
- Height/Weight: 6’ 6”, 250 lbs
- Hometown: Bend, Oregon / Bend Senior HS
Luke Musgrave is already coming off a pretty solid 2020, and after a pretty solid spring camp looks like he could be taking a big step forward in 2021. Last season he caught 12 passes for 142 yards in the six games he appeared, but he’s still seeking his first touchdown reception as a Beaver. Musgrave appeared to have packed on some muscle in Spring Camp, which should improve his blocking and looked sharp as a pass catcher.
Musgrave’s performance in 2021 will of course be heavily impacted by the outcome of the Beavers’ Quarterback competition. Inconsistency under center was an issue for Oregon State in 2021, and while Tristan Gebbia should improve with experience, he’ll have to prove he’s a better option than Colorado transfer Sam Noyer. Whoever wins, expect to see a lot of two TE sets with Musgrave and Teagan Quitoriano, who returns as one of the team’s most reliable options. With their tight end unit looking strong, the Beavers have some flexibility with their offensive weapons while what could be a radically new offense finds its footing.
