We continue to move through the top 10 of our countdown with a player who will be kept off the field due to injury for awhile, Defensive Lineman Isaac Hodgins.
#8 - Isaac Hodgins
- Position: Defensive LIne
- Class: Junior
- Height/Weight: 6’0”, 274lbs.
- Hometown: Oakley, CA / Berean Christian High School
After an excellent 2020 season got him named to a Pac-12 Honorable Mention, Isaac Hodgins was set for a big year. Hodgins has been a full time starter for three seasons at this point and has racked up 76 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss and 5 sacks. Coming into 2021, Oregon State’s Defensive Line was beginning to gel into a very solid unit, but an injury to Hodgins has derailed that development.
Hodgins will miss the start of the season with a foot injury, but should be able to return midway through the season. Hodgins is one of the hardest workers on the team though, and shouldn’t have much rust to shake off when he’s ready. With Hodgins back in place, the D-Line could end up being one of the strongest units on the team; Hodgins has grown as a playmaker each season, and with more backup along the line he’ll have many more opportunities to get into the backfield. Its a shame he won’t have a full season, but when he’s on the field he’ll be one of the biggest threats the Beavers have.
