We’re less than a week away from Beaver football, and therefore entering the final week of our countdown of the 21 of the most exciting players on the Oregon State roster. We’ll be starting the week off with one of the biggest transfers the Beavers have landed, Quarterback Sam Noyer.

#6 - Sam Noyer

  • Position: Quarterback
  • Class: Senior
  • Height/Weight: 6’4”, 227 lbs.
  • Hometown: Beaverton, OR / Beaverton High School

Tristan Gebbia won the battle for the starting QB spot in 2020, but after an up and down season it was expected he’d have to fight for it again in 2021. The battle heated up when the Beavers landed Colorado transfer Noyer, an Oregon native who was returning home for his final year of college eligibility.

In his last season down in Boulder, Noyer had a 55% completion rate, with 1101 yards passing and 6 touchdowns. Noyer is very much a dual threat quarterback, and added 208 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

The battle for this season’s starting job may come down to what style of offense the Beavers plan to run. Gebbia appears to have the inside track now, having just been named a team captain, but if the Beavers decide they need to have more of a rushing option under center, Noyer should start getting some more stamps. Regardless, the Beavers should have some flexibility at quarterback this season.
