#17 Timmy Hernandez - Wide Receiver
Though it looks like he may not be in the starting lineup come August 26th, we will see a lot of Timmy Hernandez on the field as the first or second wide receiver to come off the bench. He was one of a few junior college recruits that came in to significant playing time last year along with Paisa Savea and Phillip Napoleon.
In community college, Hernandez was a two way player, and collected accolades on both sides of the football. After coming to Oregon State, he committed to solely playing wide receiver where he played in all 12 games (starting nine) catching 19 balls for 241 yard and one beautiful touchdown last season (1:18 on the following video).
Hernandez is a bit a of a fan favorite around here at Building the Dam, partly because it’s so hard not yell “TIMMAY!” every time he makes a play. Aside from that, Hernandez displayed toughness as he wasn’t afraid to stretch out for a football or go over the middle of the field. He also demonstrated solid route running ability and soft hands that just makes it hard to not utilize him every game.
