#22 Phillip Napoleon - Defensive End
Not only a leader for best name on the OSU defensive line, Phillip Napoleon was also a co-leader in tackles among the defensive line from a year ago. He racked up 23 tackles in 11 games while making six starts for the Beavers last year. Unfortunately none of those were credited for a loss, but if his JUCO career is any indicator, Napoleon is due to end that streak this season.
Before signing with OSU in 2015, Napoleon had a successful JUCO career at Mt. San Jacinto Community College. He totaled 84 tackles in two seasons, 24.5 of those were for a loss, including 9.5 sacks.
Oregon State returns a lot of experience on the defensive front, and yes, they underperformed, but that shouldn’t reflect on this year. Phillip Napoleon, Paisa Savea, and Elu Aydon were three of five significant contributors on defensive line last year and that was their first year playing for the Beavers. So add another offseason to get stronger and build chemistry, throw in Titus Failauga (and maybe Craig Evans?), and you got yourself an improved unit.
Only 22 days left to Beaver football!
