#25 Isaiah Hodgins - Wide Receiver

The top recruit from Oregon State’s 2017 recruiting class looks to make an immediate impact on on the gridiron as a true freshman. While he hasn’t officially taken a snap for the Beavers yet, Hodgins received plenty of practice this spring as he enrolled early in January. In the spring game he flashed his athleticism and soft hands for four catches and 69 yards with one score.

Before he came to OSU, Hodgins had a stellar career at Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek, California. Over the course of his high school career, he amassed 4,372 yards on 279 receptions and 61 touchdowns. In each of his junior and senior years he grabbed 94 receptions and over 20 touchdowns. He had initially committed to Washington State, but later decommitted to reconsider his options and then turned down other notable schools such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Washington, and that other school to the south. In an article from Andrew Nemec and the Oregonian, Hodgins detailed what swayed him to OSU, citing his official visit.

While it remains to be seen if he’ll crack the starting lineup, we anticipate that Hodgins will see the field plenty (why else would he be #25 on our list?). He’s got good enough height, speed, and hands to skip redshirting. With OSU looking to sling the ball around more this year, and the likelihood that the receivers will continue to rotate in and out, Hodgins may sneak his way amongst the leaders in receiving yards.
