#32: Jalen Moore - Safety
As fall camp gets underway our countdown list rolls on with hard-hitting safety, Jalen Moore. Moore gained valuable playing experience last season but it was cut short due to injury. In total, he ended the season with 19 tackles and showed great versatility in the secondary.
Currently, Jalen Moore looks like the top contender to replace Devin Chappell and fill in at the safety position opposite of Brandon Arnold. Moore’s physical and hard-hitting style is reminiscent of Chappell but he won’t just be handed the job, graduate transfer Austin Hudson and others will push him for playing time.
Jalen Moore has been in the program longer than Hudson and will know the playbook better, but if Hudson is able to quickly adapt to his new surroundings don’t be surprised to see him make an immediate impact. Hudson didn’t transfer (from UCF) and move across the country for his last season of eligibility just to ride the bench.
Jalen Moore needs to improve his technique and more aspects of his game, but he has a chance to be a special talent and should become a staple for the Beaver defense over the next few years. With another off-season under his belt Moore will look polished and (hopefully) mistake free in the secondary. The Beavers will need Jalen Moore to excel if they are going to slow down the high-flying Pac-12 offenses in 2017.
