Eric Moreland and Ryhs Murphy Granted Redshirt For Last Season

Oregon St. forwards Eric Moreland and Ryhs Murphy, both of whom played in 4 games for the Beavers last season as freshman, have been granted red-shirt status for the 2010-11 year, according to the Oregon St. Sports Information office. It means they will be "red-shirt freshmen" in the 2011-12 season, with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

Both suffered injuries that limited their action for coach Craig Robinson.

Moreland fell hard after a blocked shot in the game at Colorado on Dec. 4, 2010, dislocating his left shoulder and ending his season in the process.

It's the second red-shirt for Murphy, who suffered a broken bone in his left wrist last year, after missing the entire 2009-2010 season as a result of breaking a bone in his foot in the first practice before the season 2 years ago.

Murphy gained the second red-shirt after successful appeal to the Pac-12 Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee under NCAA Rule 14.2.4, " A student-athlete is eligible if he/she has participated in a maximum of 30 percent of the scheduled games."
