Beavers Get a 4-Star Verbal

Both Scout.com and Rivals.com are reporting that Oregon St. has received a verbal commitment for the 2012 recruiting class from Mark Gilmore, left, a wide receiver from Lakewood, CA. Gilmore, who is listed as 6'3", and 195 pounds, also had offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Washington.

"I told Coach (Brent) Brennan I was committing," Gilmore said. "It was the best fit, and Coach Riley said I'm going to do big things there."

Brennan, who joined the Oregon St. coaching staff this past spring as the wide receivers coach, had been recruiting Gilmore in his previous position with San Jose St., and continued to pursue him after coming to head coach Mike Riley's staff.

Gilmore is rated as a 4-star recruit by Rivals and a gets 3 stars from Scout.

Was he really considering San Jose St. if he is a true 4 star? Not holding my breath until he gets here and cracks the rotation.

sometimes

it’s as much about relationship with a coach (or in the duck’s case paid “scouts”)
as the school that these kids are looking at.
Good sign for Brennan’s future.
