Andrew Susac Drafted In Second Round By The Giants; Sam Gaviglio Goes To Cardinals
The San Francisco Giants selected Oregon St. catcher Andrew Susac in the second round of the MLB draft today, taking the Beavers' sophomore catcher with the 86th. overall pick.

Additionally, the St. Louis Cardinals selected junior pitcher Sam Gaviglio in the fifth round, with the 170th. overall pick.

The Beavers' redshirt junior left hander Josh Osich, the only Oregon St. pitcher to ever throw a 9 inning complete game no-hitter, was selected by San Francisco as well, in the 6th. round, with the 207th overall pick.
Three move Beavers were taken in the later rounds of the second day of the draft.
Junior outfielder Brian Stamps was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 24th. round, with the 746 th. pick, and senior catcher/first baseman Parker Berberet was chosen in the 25th. round, on the 761 st. pick, by the Milwaukee Brewers, followed by junior third baseman Carter Bell, selected in the 29th. round with the 874th. pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

His will be an interesting decision.
That was a low enough pick that I think he could make money in the long haul by waiting and improving. His personal/family situation, and how hard it would be to wait will be a factor, and it will make it a different decision than for a lot of the others.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Berberet go when he did.
The one surprise to me is that Tony Bryant didn’t get chosen by someone, given his effectiveness as a closer.
