The Oregon State Beavers got some sense of revenge against the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Sunday in a 5-1 victory. The win moves the Beavers to 2-1 on the young season.
OSU finished with 11 hits on the day compared to Gonzaga’s five. Gonzaga committed the only error of the day.
Gonzaga scored first in the top of the third with an RBI sac fly by Tyler Rando. The Beavs quickly took the lead in the next frame with RBIs from Alex McGarry and Ryan Ober. McGarry would also later score in the seventh on a bases loaded balk. Jake Dukart would also add an RBI single in the seventh. Dukart finished the day 4-4 at the plate.

In the eighth, McGarry would be a part of one more highlight with an RBI double to score the final run of the day.
One thing that Beavs fans should also be very happy with from this game is the young pitching. Sophomore Jake Pfennigs made the start and went five innings allowing five hits and one earned run with one walk and four strikeouts. Pfennigs earned the win to make him 1-0. Freshman Cooper Hjerpe pitched the final four innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Hjerpe also earned his first career save.
The weekend wraps up for the Beavs tomorrow with a game against BYU at 1 PST.
