Ahead of tonight’s game at Utah, Oregon State has announced that star running back Jermar Jefferson will be out. The news comes from Kerry Eggers, a sportswriter for The Oregonian and the Portland Tribune. Eggers has qualified that this is still an unsubstantiated report, so we are awaiting further confirmation.
A further report from Angie Machado, at BeaverBlitz, confirmed the report, and also added that Linebacker John McCartan would also miss the game. MacCartan has had four tackles and one interception this season. According to Machado’s report, Jefferson and MacCartan are both out due to COVID-19 protocols.
Jefferson has been the star of Oregon State’s offense, with 675 yard and 7 touchdowns this season. He has been averaging 7.4 yards per rushing attempt, an absolutely ridiculous amount. The Beavers will also be without quarterback Tristan Gebbia, who was injured in last week’s win over Oregon.
BJ Baylor is behind Jefferson on the Beavers depth chart, so expect him to get more carries tonight. Baylor has rushed 16 times, for 53 total yards this season, and 1 touchdown.
Oregon State at Utah is set to kick off at 7:30 PM. Stay tuned for further coverage of that game.
