Oregon State Women’s Basketball opens Pac-12 play by hosting Washington on Friday at 2 PM PST. If you haven’t heard, there will be a clothing drive competition against Washington as well, so bring your new or lightly used winter gear to be donated. You can watch the game on the Oregon State Live Stream or listen on Oregon State AllAccess. If neither of those are options, then follow along on the team’s Twitter account. Let’s take a closer look at the Huskies.

Washington (NR, 6-5 overall, 0-0 Pac-12)

The Huskies come in at just one game above .500 in their see-saw of a season so far, having just one streak of winning two games. It’s hard to put a winning streak together when you have the conference’s worst defensive statistics in points allowed, scoring margin, field goal percentage defense, rebounding margin, and blocked shots; all categories that Oregon State leads the conference in.

Washington is led by sophomores guard Amber Melgoza and forward Mai-Loni Henson, who average 15.4 and 11.5 points per game respectively, while nearly averaging five rebounds a piece.

I think we know where this is going. Unlike last year’s contest that came down to the wire on New Year’s Day, this shouldn’t be much of a contest. Defensively, the Huskies won’t be able to hold the Beavers back in their bid for a fourth straight Pac-12 title.
