College football is back people!
Tonight (yes, tonight), the start of the 2016 college football season gets going with the season’s debut match-up from the land down-under between California and Hawaii. The game is schedule for a 7:00 PM (PT) kick-off and will be televised nationally on ESPN and WatchESPN.
The first game of the season involving a Pac-12 team also gives us a chance to debut our new “Pac-12 Picks” here at Building the Dam, in which our staff of writers will pick the winners of all the games being played in the Pac-12 that week. Throughout the season, we’ll be able to provide some quick previews of more than just the Oregon State games in the conference and get a firmer grip on just what is going each week in the Pac-12.
With only one game on the slate for this week (until the real Week One begins), we’re previewing the meeting between California and Hawaii to get our Pac-12 picks segment going.
California vs. Hawaii (7:00 PM PT)
California and Hawai’i will travel to Australia to kick-off the college football season in what is expected to be (if nothing else) an offensively prolific meeting of two teams that well, have their struggles on the defensive side of things. The Golden Bears will also be trying to find some new identity on offense without the services of the #1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, quarterback Jared Goff. Hawaii is just looking to take another step in the right direction after last season’s 3-10 finish.
