Oregon State Meets Baylor In Elite 8

Oregon State meets Baylor tonight in the Dallas Regional Final, with a trip to the NCAA Women's Basketball Final 4 next weekend in Indianapolis, IN.

It's the first time the Beavers have ever been this deep in the tournament. Oregon State Coach Scott Ruck does have a Division III National Title under his belt though, at George Fox before he undertook the rebuild of the Beavers.

It's not new territory for the Bears, however, who made it to the "Sweet 16" for the 8th year in a row under Coach Kim Mulkey, and have been to the Final 4 4 times, including winning it all in 2012.

Oregon State has won both prior meetings, but they occurred in the last century, and before any of the current players were born, so that stat couldn't be more irrelevant.

1 seed Baylor, the 4th ranked team in the country, made it to tonight with a dominant 78-58 win over Florida State in Saturday's first "Sweet 16" game in Dallas, led by Nina Davis' 30 point effort.

2 seed Oregon State, the 6th ranked team in the country, followed with an 83-71 win in over DePaul in the second game, led by Jamie Weisner, the Pac-12 Player of the Year, who had a 38 point, 10 rebound evening.

The winner will meet the victor in tonight's first game, between unbeaten top seed and 3 time defending champion Connecticut and Texas in Indianapolis next Sunday.
