Its another great day for baseball in Arizona.
Its another great day for baseball in Arizona.

5th ranked Oregon State (5-1) takes on Kansas (2-2) today in Surprise, AZ, in the first of a pair of weekend games, that will also see the Beavers and Jayhawks meet up tomorrow morning.

The Beavers beat Kansas State by 2 touchdowns yesterday, backing up their 7-5 win in Thursday's shootout with a 14-0 blowout of the Wildcats.

It was a bad day overall for Kansas baseball in the Big XII-Pac-12 Challenge, as the Jayhawks also got routed, losing 15-1 to Utah yesterday evening.

There won't be any video again today, but we have Jay Reese's radio call and live stats.

And we'll have eyes-on coverage of the game today.

Oregon State will start senior RHP Travis Eckert (0-0, 9. 00 ERA). Eckert had an eventful outing last Sunday against Minnesota, going the first 6 innings, during which he gave up 12 hits and 6 runs, but also struck out 6. The Beavers eventually beat the Golden Gophers 8-7

Kansas will counter with senior LHP Ben Krauth (0-1, 7.20). Krauth went 5 innings last Friday, in the Jayhawks' season opener against Arkansas Little Rock, allowing all 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk, with 4 strikeouts, in a 4-2 loss.

Here's today's Oregon State lineup:

Notably, Trevor Morrison is back in the starting lineup. Today's experiments are starting Andy Atwood in left field, and trying Zak Taylor as the Designated Hitter.

Caleb Hamilton, who has been hitting well, and popping up all over the field, is in right field today. Michael Gretler will give Logan Ice a break, at least to start, at catcher.
