5th ranked Oregon State kicks off the Big XII-Pac-12 Challenge, and their second week in Surprise, AZ, today, taking on Kansas State (2-2) at 1 PM AST (noon PST).
Beaver Nation will recall the Wildcats as the team the Beavers had to beat in a thrilling Super Regional series at Goss to advance to Omaha in 2013.
Oregon State will move Friday starter sophomore RHP Drew Rasmussen (1-0, 4.76 ERA) up a day to still be the weekend first starter.
Kansas State will counter with senior RHP Corey Fischer (1-0, 0.00 ERA). Fischer went 5 shutout innings against UC-Riverside, with 5 strikeouts, and just 1 walk and 3 hits on opening day.
There's no video again this week in Surprise, but we have Jay Reese's streamed call and live stats.
Today's lineup suggests that things are settling in for head coach Pat Casey and the Beavers a bit, after a lot of experimentation in week 1 in Arizona.
Of note, there is another new position for Christian Donahue, who takes a turn in left field today.
And despite the orange jersey in the background, Oregon State will be the visitor today, and in gray uniforms for the first time this season.
The Wildcats split their opening weekend series at UC-Riverside, opening the season with a 1-0 win, and getting an 8-1 win Sunday. The Highland Bears (or bears that are Highlanders) chomped on K State last Saturday and Monday though, taking 6-3 wins both days.
