Oregon State has a second Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week after last weekend. Freshman Nick Madrigal claimed the honor for baseball, joining Jamie Weisner, who was honored yesterday for her exploits in women's basketball.
Madrigal went 4 for 4 in his collegiate debut with 5th ranked Oregon State in Friday's 7-6 season opening win over Ball State, and in Sunday's 8-7 come back (twice) win over Minnesota, Madrigal had a 2 RBI double to tie the game at 6 apiece, and subsequently drove in what would prove to be the deciding run with 2 out in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Monday's game counts in this week, so in the 3 games through Sunday, Madrigal had 7 hits and 6 RBIs, and no strikeouts, in 14 at bats in Surprise, with a successful RBI sacrifice as well.
Notably, all but 1 RBI came with 2 outs.
