Oregon St. men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle has taken a major step in rebuilding the Beaver basketball program, and regaining control of the state's recruiting scene, with the commitment of in-state Drew Eubanks.
Eubanks is rated a 4 star prospect by Scout.com, and gets 3 stars from Rivals.com.
The inability to attract local talent, or compete with regional schools head to head in recruiting was a major contributor to the downfall of Tinkle's predecessor Craig Robinson, who was replaced following last season.
The 6'10" Eubanks, from Troutdale, OR, and Reynolds High School, announced prior to making a planned visit this coming weekend that he has decided to become a Beaver.
Eubanks will still attend this weekend's football game against Portland St., and take in other events on campus, but he will be more of a recruiter than a recruitee for 3 other notable prospects who will be on campus, including Tinkle's son Tres, assistant coach Stephen Thompson's son Stephen Jr., both also 4 star prospects, and also 3 star guard prospect Derrick Bruce.
Here's a look at a Eubanks highlight:
Eubanks also had offers from West Coast Conference notables Gonzaga and Portland, San Diego St., the cream of the crop in the Mt. West, and Pac-12 rivals Arizona St., Washington, and Washington St.
And as an added bonus, Eubanks, one of the state's top high school pitchers, also plans to walk on this spring with the Oregon St. baseball program.
