#6 Oregon St. (20-6, 5-3) at Arizona (12-7, 2-6) / Hi Corbett Field / Noon PM AST (Noon PDT) / Pac-12 Channel / KEJO 1240 AM / KPOJ 620 AM
Game Notes / Arizona Game Notes
It won't be over in Old Tucson, but it will be a high noon southwest showdown that will settle the weekend Pac-12 series between 6th ranked Oregon St. and Arizona today.
The first two games of the series have been anything but suspenseful, with each team posting an 11-2 win, with the Beavers banging out Friday night's victory on 18 hits and the 'Cats coming back for 17 hits in their win yesterday afternoon.
Oregon St. will turn to junior LHP Jace Fry (4-1, 2.08 ERA) today, and will hope for something like the back to back complete games Fry turned in prior to last weekend, after going 6 pitchers into their bullpen yesterday.
Fry worked into the 8th inning last Sunday, but took his first loss of the season after giving up 9 hits, which resulted in 4 runs, in Arizona St.'s 7-3 win.
Arizona will counter with freshman RHP Austin Schnabel (0-3, 7.16). Schnabel had a tough time in his last outing last Sunday, getting knocked out in the 5th inning, after getting touched up for 7 hits to go with 2 walks, which led to 5 Washington runs, and the now Pac-12 leading Huskies went on to complete a series sweep of the 'Cats with an 8-0 win.
Oregon St. head coach Pat Casey has dropped Trever Morrison, who has been struggling with a half dozen strikeouts in Tucson, down to the bottom of the lineup today, and moved Jeff Hendrix, who has been effective on both days, to the leadoff spot.
Here's today's Oregon St. lineup:
CF - Jeff Hendrix
2B - Andy Peterson
LF - Michael Conforto
RF - Dylan Davis
1B - Kavin Keyes
DH - Michael Howard
C - Logan Ice
3B - Caleb Hamilton
SS - Trever Morrison
P - Jace Fry
