It's the end of the regular season, and the things we know are the 4th ranked Beavers will be hosting a regional next week, and the Cougars won't be playing in one. But there is still a game to be played.
With Oregon's 6-2 win Saturday at Utah, either a Beaver win or a upset this afternoon by the Utes is necessary for Oregon St. to finish alone atop the Pac-12, though the tiebreaker ensures the Beavers the championship and the conference's automatic post-season berth.
Washington St. would love to head into the off-season with the vast majority of their young roster returning on a winning note against the conference champions.
Oregon St. will send junior LHP Ben Wetzler (7-1, 1.46) out to try for his 8th consecutive Sunday win. Washington St. will counter with sophomore RHP Scott Simon (3-4, 3.68).
Oregon St. coach Pat Casey has tweaked the batting order again today, moving Danny Hayes ahead of Ryan Barnes. Here's today's OSU lineup:
Tyler Smith-SS
Andy Peterson-2B
Michael Conforto-LF
Dylan Davis-RF
Danny Hayes-1B
Ryan Barnes-DH
Kain Keyes-3B
Jake Rodriguez-C
Max Gordon-CF
