Vakameilalo is a 6'4", 300 lb. defensive tackle Kapolei High in Kapolei, HI.
Here's a highlight video:
And Here's another:
Vakameilalo selected Oregon St. over offers from Washington St., Kansas, and Pittsburgh.
Vakameilalo is a pay-off of defensive coordinator Mark Banker's Hawaiian connections. Oregon St. also has a presence in the Kapolei community, being a degree partner with the Kapolei Community College.
Rivals rates Vakameilalo a 3 star recruit, though Scout.com only has him at 2 stars.
Landing Vakameilalo gives Oregon St. 2 of the top 3 prospects from the Islands according to Rivals' ratings, joining #3 prospect Fitou Fisiiahi, who committed following the Beavers' win over Hawaii earlier this season.
