Oregon State had to wait a day before hearing one of their players’ names called in the MLB Draft, but it finally happened early in the third round on Monday when 1st Baseman Garret Forrester was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates, with the 73rd overall pick.
Forrester has been one of the Beavers’ best hitters for the past couple seasons. In his three seasons as a Beaver Forrester has twice been named to the All Pac-12 First Team, and once was named an All Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
In his most recent season, Forrester finished with a .341 Batting Average and a .485 OBP, for an OPS of 1.007. He had 79 hits, 12 doubles and 10 home runs.
