Oregon State has once again used the transfer portal to pick up a big name from a power 5 school. Edge Rusher Drew Chatfield, who’s spent three years with the Florida Gators, announced his decision to transfer to Oregon State earlier today.

Chatfield is a Junior, and started seeing action as a reserve for the Gators last year. In his three years he’s accounted for 15 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 2 sacks and 1 pass deflection. He hasn’t gotten a chance to start yet, but with OSU’s linebacker corps getting older, he should be in contention for a starting job next fall. Team veteran Andrzej Hughes-Murray is redshirt senior whose time with the team will be coming to an end soon.

Chatfield, 6’ 2” and 221 lbs., was a four star recruit coming out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a recruit he saw a lot of interest from top schools, with Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma and even Oregon making him offers. Though he’s only had a few opportunities to show his stuff in Gainesville, he should have a big chance to make a mark for himself in Corvallis.
