The Beavers got MUCH NEEDED defensive line help, Friday by securing a commitment from Keonte Schad. The former Minnesota Gopher was a top juco defensive tackle prospect in the 2019 recruiting class with offers from schools like Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee etc. He announced his decision on Twitter.

The senior transfer has one year of eligibility remaining and figures to play a huge role for Oregon State’s defense this upcoming season. Schad will replace the production (and some) from recently departed DT Jordan Whittley.
Schad is 6-foot-3, 295-pounds; his best season with Minnesota came in his first year (2019) and he was suited up for the Gophers spring game this offseason before deciding to enter the transfer portal. My guess is that Keonte Schad starts on the defensive line with Isaac Hodgins and Simon Sandberg. But there will be frequent rotations as usual on the defensive line. Great news for Oregon State!
