A great game from Cooper Hjerpe and amazing hitting from Garret Forrester and Ryan Ober powered Oregon State to a series clinching win over the Washington Huskies. The win moves the Beavers to 16-5 overall, and 5-1 in Pac-12 play.
Cooper Hjerpe picked up his second win of the season as the starter. giving him a 2-1 record. He pitched for 7.0 innings, ringing up 7 strikeouts, with no walks, one hit and one earned run allowed. Mitch Verburg came in in the eighth inning to close things out, striking out two and allowing 1 hit and no runs.
Garret Forrester was the Beavers star behind the plate today. He got the Beavers their first run in the top of the first when he hit a double down the right field line that scored Ryan Ober and Micah McDowell. He later hit a home run in the top of the third that also scored Ober. All told, Forrester finished the day with 3 hits and 4 RBIs, and was walked twice.
Ryan Ober, who Forrester scored twice, also had a big day. In addition to the two listed earlier, Ober added another Run with a home run in the top of the sixth that also scored Kyler McMahan. Ober had two hits and was walked twice, alongside 2 RBIs and 3 Runs.
The final game between the Beavers and Huskies will be tomorrow, with first pitch set for 1:00 PM PT. The game will be live streamed on Pac-12.com.
