Jarod Lucas had a career game to give the Beavers another big win on the road, with Oregon State taking down Stanford 73-62. The victory moves the Beavers to .500 in conference play, 9-9, and 13-11 overall.

The game started close, but the Cardinal began to pull into the lead around the 10 minute mark, with cold shooting from the Beavers letting Stanford build a nearly double digit lead. The Beavers managed to snap out of it and climb, with Lucas hitting 11 points in the remainder of the half to give the Beavers a slim lead. A Brandon Angel three before the half closed gave Stanford the lead headed into the break, 34-33.

The game stayed close at the start of the half, but the Beavers began to pull away. Warith Alatishe hit a couple of key shots, and Roman Silva and Lucas both capitalized on Stanford turnovers, to give the Beavers an 8 point lead with 8 minutes to go. The Cardinal began to fight back, cutting the lead to just two, before Lucas once again managed to take over the game, scoring another 11 points in the final five minutes to put Stanford on ice, and give OSU the win.

Lucas led everyone in scoring, with 26 points, along with 3 rebounds and an assist. He was especially effective at the foul line, going 10-11 on his free throw attempts. Ethan Thompson added another 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and Warith Alatishe rounded out the top scorers with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Beavers have two games left on their 2021 regular season schedule. On Wednesday, they’ll travel to Salt Lake to take on Utah, currently 10th in the Pac-12 standings. Finally, on Sunday, they’ll return to Corvallis to face off with Oregon. Check back with Building the Dam for more coverage.
