Championship Game: (#4) Golden Eagles 78, (#22) Sideline Cancer 73

Jamil Wilson (Marquette) dropped 16 points and three Golden Eagles (Marquette Alumni) players in Dwight Buycks (Marquette), Elgin Cook (Oregon) and Darius Johnson-Odom (Marquette) scored 15 points a piece to lead their squad to the TBT 2020 title over Team Sideline Cancer, 78-73.

While the ageless Travis Diener (Marquette) was the one who sealed the game from long-range in the Elam Ending with his only basket of the night, Golden Eagles balance, depth and versatility on the defense end was the key to putting away a really tough and massively mis-seeded Sideline Cancer squad.

An impressive 17-6 assist-to-turnover ratio from Golden Eagles may have also helped their cause.

For Team Sideline Cancer, an amazing TBT 2020 run comes to an end in disappointing fashion, as star Marcus Keene (Central Michigan) managed just 6 points on a 2-5 shooting display from the field, as Golden Eagles made a concerted effort to keep the explosive scorer under wraps.

Maurice Creek (George Washington) scored a game-high 20 points on an 8-12 day. Jamel Artis (Pittsburgh) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the defeat, while Remy Abell (Xavier) was the only other Sideline Cancer player to hit double-figures, finishing with 14 points.

In the current COVID-19 affected world of sports, it was so fun to follow along with the TBT 2020 and we thank everyone who went along for the ride with us. Until next year TBT, thanks for giving us one of the most unique and truly enjoyable basketball tournaments out there.
