The X-Men of St. Francis Xavier are coached by the legendary Steve Konchalski, nicknamed Canada’s “Coach K”, who owns three national championships and is the brother of renowned New York high school basketball scout, Tom Konchalski. Konchalski is entering his final season at the helm in 2020-2021, where he will then pass on the reigns of the program to Tyrell Vernon, current Associate Coach and older brother of Antoine.
Konchalski commented on Vernon’s commitment stating, “Antoine is a huge recruit for our program. I have been watching his development since grade 10 and he secures the point guard position at StFX for years to come.”
Vernon will have three years of eligibility remaining to play due to the differences in collegiate basketball systems between the United States (NCAA) and Canada (U Sports). He is also returning to his birth country, as he is a native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
