On Friday, sophomore guard Antoine Vernon announced that he has entered the transfer portal, effectively ending his time with the Oregon State basketball team. He joins junior guard Sean Miller-Moore as the second player to depart the program this week.
During his two seasons in Corvallis, Vernon has played in a largely minimal role, seeing action in 25 games this past season for an average of 8 minutes per contest. He averaged just 0.6 points and 0.8 assists per game, while shooting 40.0% from the field.
Vernon’s absence brings the Beavers back down to 13 scholarships (the NCAA Division I limit), but questions are still asked why at maximum capacity on their roster, they are still pursuing the likes of Michigan’s Cole Bajema and Seton Hall’s Anthony Nelson.
