With the 10th pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft (#189 overall), the Jacksonville Jaguars selected quarterback Jake Luton out of Oregon State. Luton is the first player from Oregon State to be selected in the NFL Draft since 2017, when offensive lineman Sean Harlow and defensive back Treston Decoud were both taken.
The good news for Luton about landing in Jacksonville is that besides the Jaguars’ starting quarterback in Gardner Minshew II, there are many chairs in the gunslingers room to fill. The 6’ 6”, 225-pounder posses the size, football IQ and short-passing game to compete at the next level and shouldn’t be thrown into a complete logjam. If Luton can quickly prove his worth to the Jaguars, he can earn a back-up role over Josh Dobbs.
