Alfonso Plummer tried really hard to end the Beavs season. He nearly accomplished all on his own. The Utah guard went off from three in the final minutes of the first half to break open what had been a pretty back and forth game. On the back off his hot hand the Utes carried an 8 point lead into halftime.
The second half started much like the first half ended as Plummer and the Utes pushed the lead to 14.
Oregon State was not done though, Tres Tinkle was not going to go out like that. Kylor Kelley still had some blocks left in him. The Beavs rallied and they rallied hard. With a few minutes left they cut the Utah lead down to one. The teams traded baskets over the final few minutes.
With about a minute left Alfonso Plummer hit his PAC-12 record 11th three of the game to make it a 4 point game, Jarrod Lucas said “Anything you can do I can do better” and hit his 3rd three of the second half and brought it to 69-68. A Ute turnover and a Beav timeout set up the Beavs with a chance at a win with 16.8 seconds on the clock.

Civil War tomorrow!
*Full disclosure, I had written a lot of this when it really looked like the Beavs were gonna lose. I even had a “Plummer Cracks OSU Defense” joke as the headline. I am stunned at what I just saw. Jarod Lucas ruined my story and I am very very happy about it *
