The Beavers have added JT Byrne to their Class of 2021, as the Tight End signed his letter of intent early today. Byrne is 6’6” and weighs 238 pounds, and attended Carmel High School in Carmel, California. In addition to Oregon State, he was offered by a number of FBS schools, including Army, Navy, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah State.

The Beavers have done a decent job at working tight ends into their passing game this season, with Luke Musgrave and Teagan Quitoriano both making some plays. Byrne could fit into that sort of game plan. With his size, he doesn’t have a ton of speed, but he’s got the ability to bowl over defenders, and can get downfield when he needs to. He also looks like he could become a solid blocker when the Beavers need another presence on the edge of the line. Here are some of his highlights.

Check back throughout the day for more early signing day coverage.
