The college football season is quickly approaching! We continue BTD’s countdown list with number 24.

#24: Doug Taumoelau - Inside Linebacker

Doug Taumoelau is a redshirt junior linebacker for the Beavers. He played in all 12 games last season and started three of them. Doug is one of the most experienced defensive players (22 games played) and had a fantastic season as a sophomore racking up 54 tackles which was good for fourth highest on the team.

Despite Doug Taumoelau’s experience and accolades it still seems like he’s being overlooked going into the 2019 season. Much of that has to do with the linebacker depth around him; Shemar Smith looks to have a starting position locked up, so the other inside linebacker spot will come down to a fierce battle in fall camp. Look for Doug Taumoelau to compete with Avery Roberts (Nebraska transfer) and Isaiah Tufaga. Ultimately most people expect Avery Roberts to be announced as the official starter, but I’d expect a lot of linebackers to see the field this season. Don’t overlook Doug Taumoelau in 2019 and look for him to put together a strong season.

Projected Statistics:

57 tackles, 4 TFLs , 2 Sacks
