If being on the “hot seat” takes into account factors such as the overall trajectory of a program, the prowess of a team on the recruiting front and the ability of a group to take care of business in conference play, then there’s a strong chance that Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle could be feeling the heat heading into the 2018-2019 season.
After inheriting a group that went 17-14 in his first season (2014-2015), Tinkle backed up his solid debut with the school’s first NCAA Tournament run in over two decades, anchored by star player Gary Payton II’s legendary season.
However, it’s been mostly downhill since then for the fourth-year head coach.
A brutal 5-27 season, which saw the Beavers plagued by injuries and find a way to just one victory in the Pac-12, was followed up by this year’s roller-coaster 16-16 campaign, which left some fans with a bit of a sour taste in their mouths.
No, Oregon State wasn’t awful by any measures, but the growth of a once-promising group seemed to be lacking.
So that begged the question to be asked to all of you out there in Beaver Nation.
Heading into the 2018-2019 season, do you think Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle should be considered on the hot seat?
