BTD Fantasy Football: Waiver-Wire Pickups & More

The Kansas City Chiefs look unstoppable!

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The 7th week of the NFL season is in the books. The fantasy football season is flying by and once again the Chiefs put on quite the show. As we head into the 8th week of the season you’ll have to really assess your odds at making a postseason push and start weighing your decisions and potentially start taking even greater risks.

TOP WAIVER-WIRE PICKUPS (Oct. 23rd)

Running Backs
  1. Nick Chubb - Cleveland Browns
  2. Jalen Richard/Doug Martin - Oakland Raiders
  3. Kenjon Barner - New England Patriots
  4. Raheem Mostert - San Francisco 49ers

Marshawn Lynch was sent to the IR (Injured Reserve List) and will miss a significant amount of time with his groin injury. It looks like Jalen Richard and Doug Martin will share the workload with him gone. I’d rather grab Jalen over Doug on the waiver-wire, but we’ll see how it plays out on the field. Nick Chubb is the biggest beneficiary from the Carlos Hyde trade. Also, I don’t think Raheem Mostert has a lot of long-term value, but he is playable while Matt Breida is injured.

Wide Receivers
  1. Tyrell Williams - Los Angeles Chargers
  2. Danny Amendola - Miami Dolphins
  3. Tre’Quan Smith - New Orleans Saints
  4. Courtland Sutton - Denver Broncos

Jermaine Kearse was a big-time miss last week, my apologies. There are a lot of rumors that the Broncos top two receiving options (Sanders and Thomas) could be traded before the upcoming NFL trade deadline; which would make Courtland Sutton very valuable.

Tight Ends
  1. C.J. Uzomah - Cincinnati Bengals
  2. Austin Hooper - Atlanta Falcons
  3. Jack Doyle - Indianapolis Colts
  4. Benjamin Watson - New Orleans Saints

Jack Doyle is finally on the mend. Eric Ebron has been a monster TE option without Doyle, but don’t forget Jack Doyle was considered the No. 1 option headed into the season before he was injured.

TOP DEFENSES TO STREAM

  1. NE Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills
  2. IND Colts vs. Oakland Raiders
  3. AZ Cardinals vs. SF 49ers

Another tough week for defensive streaming options. If you can grab the Patriots defense, then I would absolutely do it. They should have a big week.

DUMP EM’

  1. Jermaine Kearse - WR
  2. Kelvin Benjamin - WR
  3. Aaron Jones - RB

Aaron Jones could still breakout, but if you need to make room for another player don’t hesitate to drop him, especially with the Packers on a bye.

BTD’s WEEK SEVEN RECAP:

Standings:

  1. Marcus Russell (7-0)
  2. Justin Sattelmaier (5-2)
  3. Joe Londergan (5-2)
  4. Albert Lee (4-3)
  5. Erik Briggs (4-3)
  6. John Severs (3-4)
  7. Kyle Wilson (2-5)
  8. Travis Johannes (2-5)
  9. Callie Cornilles (2-5)
  10. Patrick Moen (1-6)

I was extremely lucky to go against Melvin Gordon, who was ruled out last minute. My team had a tough go of it (thanks Jermaine Kearse), but I remain undefeated. That could change as I face Justin Sattelmaier and the #1 ranked QB/RB in fantasy football (Mahomes/Gurley).
