In a somewhat surprise move the Seattle Mariners have called up former Beaver ace and Oregon native Andrew Moore this morning.
Unexpected move: #Mariners Select RHP Andrew Moore from AAA Tacoma; RHP Christian Bergman optioned to AAA; Tyler Cloyd DFA'd.

The right hander out of Eugene began the season in Double-A Arkansas where he posted a 1-2 record with a 2.08 ERA. Following his promotion to Triple-A Tacoma in May, Moore continued to impress Mariner fans and brass alike, with a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 3.19 in the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League. The former second round pick is considered a top 5 prospect in the Mariners farm system and a potential long term rotation piece after quickly working through the minor leagues following the 2015 MLB Draft.
The Mariners aren't going to call up Moore to pitch him out of the bullpen. He's going to be inserted into the rotation.

While Moore is expected to be inserted into the starting rotation, the expected length of his stay is unclear as Seattle looks welcome back ace Felix Hernandez this weekend, and fellow injured starters Hisashi Iwakuma and Drew Smyly are expected to return in the next few weeks.
The man affectionately known as the Red Storm by many in Beaver Nation will join fellow OSU alums Sam Gaviglio and Tyler Smith on the Mariners roster... Sounds like a road trip to the Emerald City may be in order for many Beav fans.
