OSU got going early on offense against the Wildcats and never looked back. Defensively, the Beavers never allowed ACU to get a runner into scoring position. With the win, Oregon State brings their win total to 46 on the year, which is a new regular-season program record.
A five run second inning for the Beavers started with a bases loaded walk that scored Trevor Larnach. Cadyn Grenier was able to score on a wild pitch in the next at bat. Preston Jones then came through with a triple that drove home two more runs. Jack Anderson brought Jones home with a sacrifice grounder for the last run of the inning.
Another run came in the fifth with a sac fly from Larnach that brought in Adley Rutschman. The offense finished things up with three more runs in the eighth inning, including and RBI double from Jones. The other two runs came when Jack Anderson hit one to left field, with the ACU outfielder unable to handle it and allowing Jones and Nick Madrigal to score.
On the mound, Luke Heimlich had another solid outing. He went eight innings, allowing four hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Heimlich moves to 10-1 on the year. Plus, he made this stellar play in the eighth.
Whoa.
