Just a day after knocking off California in their regular-season finale, clinching an outright Pac-12 title, the Oregon State Women’s Basketball team is reaping the benefits, as they jumped to #6 overall in the latest release of the AP (Associated Press) Top 25 Poll. Last week, the Beavers were ranked as the #10 team in the country overall.
Oregon State is currently 27-3 on the season, with only losses to Marquette, UCLA and USC on their resume, and the Beavers are currently projected as a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament by ESPN women’s basketball bracketologist, Charlie Creme. College Sports Madness also projects the Beavers as a #2 seed in their latest women’s basketball bracketology.
As the conference’s regular season champs, Oregon State will enter the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament as the #1 overall seed, where they will match-up with the winner of #8 California and #9 USC. The first chance to see Oregon State in action is on Friday, March 3rd at 11:30 AM PT against either the Golden Bears or the Trojans.
The Beavers’ biggest competition in the tournament will likely come from #2-seed Stanford, a team that Oregon State swept during the regular season by a combined 6 points, or #4-seed UCLA, who split their season series with the Beavers. The Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament will take place at Key Arena in Seattle, Washington from March 2nd to March 5th.
