Beavs take on the Cougs for conference game number two

Oregon State will host Washington State to cap the first weekend of Pac-12 play on Sunday. Check out the 11 AM PST game on the Pac-12 Networks or listen to Ron Callan on Oregon State AllAccess. If you can’t watch or listen to the game, there’s always the official Twitter account for the Beavers Women’s Basketball to keep you informed. Let’s check out the Cougars.

Washington State (7-6 overall, 0-1 Pac-12)

Washington State comes into Gill fresh off of a 33 point drubbing from Oregon in Eugene where they gave up 50 points to the Ducks’ one-two punch of Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard. They only managed seven first quarter points to put themselves in a 13 point deficit early that they could never overcome.

The Cougars are led by the conference’s third leading scorer in redshirt sophomore forward Borislava Hristova who sat out the Coug’s last game and will likely be a game-time decision to play against the Beavers. The Bulgaria native averages nearly 17 points and five rebounds a game. Junior guard Alexys Swedlund averages 10 points for the Cougars while primarily coming off the bench, and redshirt junior forward Louise Brown leads the team in double-doubles at three.

While the Beavers struggled in their first half against the Huskies on Friday, they got back to their winning formula with their signature lock-down defense and feeding the hot hand “Das Hammer” Marie Gulich. Look for Mikayla Pivec and Gulich to take on similar roles that Ionescu and Hebard had against the Cougars.
