Beavers Head Coach, Gary Anderson has announced Open Tryouts for the Beaver Football team. If you are able to provide a brief medical history, are in good standing with Oregon State University and have D1 eligibility remaining then don't miss your shot to try out!

Oregon State has had a history of successful walk-ons making an impact. Head Coach Wayne Tinkle held open basketball try outs when he first accepted the job and a number of players made the team and played a big role.
Last year, Clemson held open tryouts and they went on to play in the college football playoffs and eventually the National Championship.
It seems to be pretty commonplace in college football to hold open try outs. The list of walk-ons who have had success at Oregon State is pretty long. Mike Hass being the most well-known. Hass went on to win the Biletnikoff award in 2006, which is awarded to College footballs top wide receiver each year.
Here’s an interesting read from Bleacher Report, about the journey of a walk-on and all they go through.
Gary Andersen might be doing this as a way to light a fire within his team. He might be doing it, after seeing the success the aforementioned Coach Tinkle had. Either way, it’s a low risk, high reward strategy.
