Gary Andersen Expands Staff

Gary Andersen continues to staff up the football program.
Gary Andersen continues to staff up the football program.

Oregon State head football coach has expanded his staff again, adding a couple of his former players from when he coached at Utah State. At least one is a familiar name; Chuckie Keeton was also discussed as a possible QB transfer to Corvallis before he completed his playing career. Keeton graduated last spring.

Funaki Asisi was a 4 year offensive lineman for the Aggies, and has 2 years experience as a Graduate Assistant at Utah State and 1 year as an assistant at Logan High in Logan, UT.

Andersen hasn't yet identified roles for the latest newcomers, who were initially hired just as "Administrative Staff", but its clear Andersen values them, and wants them as a part of his growing "Utah connection" in Corvallis.

Keeton has indicated initially Andersen will have him focused in the recruiting area.

With the additions, the football staff is now the largest it has ever been, with 30 listed assistants and staffers. By contrast, in the last 3 years under Mike Riley, there were 18 listed assistants, which is the largest Riley's staff ever was.

That's a 67% increase.

It's another clear indication of the direction the business of college football is heading.
