Jack Anderson and KJ Harrison lead Oregon State at the plate

Oregon State used a steady presence at the plate and Bryce Fehmel was solid on the mound to take the series opener against Central Arkansas. Oregon State improves their record to (20-7), while Central Arkansas drops to 13-15.

KJ Harrison's first of two triples in the game scored Nick Madrigal in the first inning to give the Beavers the early lead. The Bears tied it in the second, but it was short lived as Jack Anderson doubled to push Oregon State's lead back to one 2-1. Central Arkansas again tied the game in the bottom of the 4th. The Beavers answered back with a second mini-run scoring one in the bottom of the fourth, and one in the fifth to push their lead to two 4-2.

In the bottom of the eighth the Beavers would finally put the game away with a two run inning. Harrison scored off a passed ball from the Bears, and Anderson got his second RBI of the game for a final score of 6-2. KJ Harrison also finished with two RBI's, and Kyle Nobach added one. As a team Oregon State finished with 11 hits.

Byrce Fehmel got the start instead of scheduled Friday night starter Travis Eckert, and pitched six innings in the win, giving up two runs, five hits along with three strikeouts. While Jordan Britton pitched two innings and Max Engelbrekt pitched the final inning for the Beavers. Central Arkansas Connor Gilmore with the loss drops to 2-5 on the season.

Eckert was considered available, but Coach Pat Casey did not want to take a chance with Eckert, after he left last Friday's game with a twinge in his back.

The non conference three game series continues Saturday against Central Arkansas. The game is in Hillsboro for the Beavers' Damcity Showcase at Ron Tonkin Field game time starts at 2:35 PM.
