Just a few days after climbing back into the AP Top 25, Oregon State Women’s Basketball won three games in a row to win the #Play4Kay Shootout in Las Vegas.
Oregon State 62 UNLV 59
In the opening round of the tournament, the Beavers survived a scare from the hometown team, UNLV 62-59. Oregon State fought their way back from 9 down in the 4th period to win in the final 60 seconds of play. Sydney Wiese led the way with 25 points.
Oregon State 75 Quinnipiac 60
The quarterfinals saw Oregon State hand Quinnipiac their third loss of the season to a tally of 75-60. Quinnipiac started off hot, taking the early lead, only to have the Beavers claim the lead by halftime. Oregon State maintained their lead until midway through the third quarter when Quinnipiac tied the game at 40-40. From there, it was domination by the Beavers, outscoring the Bobcats 35-20 throughout the final 14 minutes of play. Both Sydney Wiese and Mikalya Pivec (who set a career high in points scored) had 17 points to lead the Beavers in scoring.
Oregon State 73 Oklahoma State 54
The finals of the #Play4Kay Shootout pinned undefeated Oklahoma State against the 25th ranked Beavers. The teams traded the lead throughout the majority of the first half until Oregon State pulled ahead for a 37-32 lead at halftime. The Beavers would lead for the remainder of the game, slowly pulling ahead, ending up with a 19 point pounding of previously unbeaten Oklahoma State. Freshman Mikalya Pivec again led the Beavers in scoring with 17.
Oregon State has one more non-conference game, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Corvallis on December 27th, before they look to start strong in PAC-12 play against Washington State on December 20th.
As always, Go Beavs!
