Oregon State’s losing streak reaches three as they come up short against Tulsa, losing 75-64. Going into the game the Beavers led the nation in turnovers and managed to tone them down a bit. They finished with 13 turnovers in the game but shot just 7-21 from three point land. The biggest discrepancy between the two teams was in the rebounding category where Tulsa out-rebounded Oregon State 38-22, including 11 offensive boards to Oregon State’s three. Tulsa was the more physical team and it showed in the score.
The Beavs shot the ball a lot better in the second half but had already dug too deep of a hole to get themselves out of at that point. Tulsa led 37-22 at the half and it looked like it was going to be a blowout. That was before the Beavers came out and hit three straight three pointers to start the second half, two coming from Jaquori McLaughlin and one coming from Daine Muller. But every time the Beavers looked like they were going to pull ahead Tulsa made a run. The Beavs scored 42 second half points in total but it wasn’t enough as they gave up 38 more points to Tulsa.
Tres Tinkle led the way for Oregon State with 19 points and 2 assists, and Junior Etou had 17 points and 7 rebounds for Tulsa. The Beavers are now 2-3 overall and face off against Fresno State in Corvallis on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
