Game Notes

Oregon State wraps up the rejuvenated Far West Classic tonight by taking on Tulsa from the American Athletic Conference.

The Beavers beat Cal-State Fullerton, who plays Portland in the 5:30 game tonight, last night, 82-69, behind another big night by Gary Payton II. GP II had a game high 19 points, on 70% shooting from the floor, a game high 8 rebounds, and a team high 4 assists.

He got balanced support though, as Malcolm Duvivier added 15, and Tres Tinkle and Stevie Thompson Jr. both got into double digits as well off the bench, with 13 and 10 points. Oregon State almost had 5 players in double figures, as both Langston Morris-Walker and Olaf Schaftenaar finished with 9 points.

The Titans got off to a good start, and an early lead, but the Beavers took a double digit lead before halftime, and extended their advantage to 17 points shortly after the break. CS-Fullerton fought back, but got no closer than 9 points, before Oregon State pulled away to 18 point leads on a couple of occasions, and coasted home to the 13 point win.

The Golden Hurricanes are dropping in for just tonight's game, They downed Missouri State 70-61 last Sunday in their last outing. James Woodard made 4 3 pointers and scored a game high 20 points, and Tulsa held off a second half rally by the Bears.

Shaquille Harrison, the Golden Hurricane's leading scorer, and only other player besides Woodward who averages double figures, added 11, well below his 18.8 ppg average.
